Where my journey began

My journey as a motivational teacher began back in 1996 in South Africa when my first born son’s kindergarten teacher called me in to tell me that my son was struggling at school. I was shocked. How could my little boy, who was 5 years old at the time, struggle at school when I knew he was such a bright child?

With his teacher’s recommendation, I booked an appointment to see a child psychologist who confirmed my motherly intuition: my son was very intelligent; at least 3 years ahead of his peers. Unfortunately, emotionally, he was lagging behind.

I was given some tasks in motivation to encourage my son to move from doubt to belief in his own abilities. I found the whole experience very rewarding – so much so that I changed my career as a hairdresser to become an early childhood teacher.

Expanding my knowledge

I wanted to know all there was to know about human development and how to be the best motivational teacher, not only for my own son, but also for other children. Once I mastered that skill (I was living in Melbourne, Australia at the time), my goal shifted to motivating the children’s parents; definitely a bigger challenge and one I also enjoyed tremendously. Before long, I became a teacher of adults and undertook further studies to become more skilled in this area.

Overcoming my inner fears

I must admit that throughout this time I had my own inner fears to overcome – fears such as not being good enough.

Luckily I learnt many skills along the way and one skill that influenced me the most was when, during meditation, I realised that all I had to do was change my focus. I have always “known” this, but for some reason this bit of ‘head knowledge’ only became ‘experiential knowledge’ during meditation. A bit hard to explain. So, instead of focusing on my fears and insecurities, I would meditate, become still, and then focus on positive attributes such as love and hope.

A spiritual experience

In 2010 I had a spiritual experience that impacted me on a deep, emotional level, so much so that I wrote a book about it: The Gift

Science was never my strong point in school and was one of the first subjects I let go when I could. Nevertheless, after this experience I found myself devouring books on quantum physics, energy and sound vibration and in particular how sound has the ability to shape and alter things.  I became quite the expert on frequency and resonance.

Brain Entrainment Music

My dad, a musician and scientist, helped me to create meditation soundtracks that included brain entrainment technology. I started running a part time business in Perth, WA, where I taught beginner meditation classes and where these meditation tracks were shared with participants.

Becoming a life coach

During this time, I qualified as a clinical hypnotherapist and NLP practitioner and started a practice operating from at home.

Since then, I have completed a diploma in counselling and have decided to combine all my skills in one convenient bundle and offer my services as a Spiritual Teacher and Life Coach.
